How do I find an article using the journal finder?

Looking for a journal article?

Offsite access to library resources is available to SVHM staff and students.

When prompted, log in with your SVHM email address and password. If you’re on site you are already authenticated so won’t need to log in.

Please contact the SVHA IT Helpdesk on 1300 518 001 for any password problems.

1. Go to the Library site (http://library.svhm.org.au/libraryhomepage) and scroll down to the box "Find a Journal or Article"

2. Select "Find an article using journal name" and type the name of the journal, e.g. jama or annals of surgery, to see all journals with those words in their name.

3. Click on the matching journal and check the coverage of what we have access to includes the year of the article you need. Then check the format, if it is in print come to the Library to use it, if it is online click on the journal name to go to that journal’s site.

4. Navigate to year or volume then issue to find the article you want and download the PDF. Hint: Some journal sites have older issues under the heading “Archive”.

If the journal you need is not in our print or online collection please use the form "Request an article or book chapter", also on our Library site.

If you need further assistance with this process or have another Library related question please contact a Librarian on 9231 2540 or email library.svhmlibrary@svha.org.au
